SURGE

November 1, 2008 - January 31, 2009 | Washington Artillery Park

SURGE --site-specific, public installation set between the backdrop of the Mississippi River and Jackson Square. The painted objects used in the installation were extracted from various bodies of water throughout South Louisiana including the Mississippi River and Vermilion River. The color used for this installation was sampled from dried Johnson Grass (Sorghum Halepense) . Speakers placed throughout the objects brodcasted a 40 minute looping laughtrack edited to mimic the ebb and flow of the waters edge. 24 hour view.

Kingdom --edited video; running time 43:06 minutes.
I edited four episodes of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom; removing the audio narration and humans speaking. Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom debuted on January 6, 1963 and ran through 1988. Its "real life" footage brought the wilds of Africa, the Amazon River and other exotic locales into the living rooms of millions of Americans.
